JOURNEY Map

2022 - 2025

Fall 2022

This fall semester was full of extracurricular activities that involved three clubs of mine. Toastmasters club, where I prepared and evaluated speeches. I joined the rowing club to improve my health and to join a supportive community/team.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I was part of the Division of Student Affairs, OTEAM, where I peer mentored a class of 28 students, welcoming them to IUPUI and helping them navigate the chaotic process of transitioning from high school to college.

This semester-long commitment taught me to communicate with my staff and student peers in a better and more efficient way.

Spring 2023

This spring semester was full of ups and downs for me as I prepared to take honors I-Core with a team of wonderful people who are all hardworking at what they love.

I also surrounded myself with the people I care about, who are mostly in the rowing club. We got to know their competitive spirit in one of the small competitions that we worked towards.

Lastly, an event that prompted me to reflect on what I want to do in my senior year of college made me deeply sentimental and look forward to what’s in store for me. The spring of 2023 was another exciting and busy semester that would stay fresh in my mind for a while.

Retrospective

Fall 2023

After I took I-Core last semester I was finally in classes that are mainly focused on my majors, accounting and finance, which could decide whether or not I want to continue in this field.

I could tell you with certainty that I did! Intermediate accounting 1 was my favorite class that I took even if it was the hardest out of the 6 classes that I took.

This semester taught me that accounting is a career that I see myself going into while also enjoying the material that comes alongside it.

Spring 2024

Do you know what else is associated with spring? Tax busy season! This is relevant because this semester I took a leap of faith and took an internship with a CPA firm called Blue&Co., LLC.

Blue&Co., LLC. attracted me with how they held themselves during 2024 Kelley Career Fair. They also gave me the chance to meet the whole team in Ohio with my food and hotel stay paid for.

Working at Blue&Co., LLC. was such an eye opening for my career as it showcased what my job would boil down to in the first years of employment.

This Semester also showcased my temperament and time management skills as I also needed to balance two other classes with this full time internship.

Fall 2024

I deepened my understanding of tax this semester with more accounting heavy classes. I also got a treasurer role in the Rowing Club to deepen my understanding of budgeting and finance.

I also took an Arabic class to strengthen my native language and reconnect with my culture after years of neglecting it.

I took the majority of my time to finding a place to work at after college. I rewrote resumes and job applications in order to land interviews and a full-time position on fall 2025.

I successfully did so with a great company called BDO, which could handle my ambitions for international work and corporate environment that I thrive in.

This semester has made me realize that I'm closer than ever to accomplishing my goals and stepping into the next phase of my life.

Spring 2025 and Beyond

As I take my final steps to graduation, I reflect back to all my experiences and can't help but feel grateful to everything that I went through.

Joining the Rowing Club that gave me the community to call IUPUI (IUI) home.

Choosing accounting to be my major to support and achieve my goals and aspirations

Having the chance to experience the job with Blue and being accepted by BDO, giving me the peace of mind to study and pursue what is important to me.

Finally, having the chance to meet all the amazing individuals from teams, events, class, or parties.

I am glad to be part of IUPUI and call myself an alumni of JAGS!
